James"Jim" B. Dobbs

March 9, 1926 — August 22, 2011

Jim was born on March 9, 1926 in Menard, Texas to Thomas Ernest and Mettie (Morgan) Dobbs. He attended high school in Menard, Texas. Jim went to college at Texas A&M University and received his degree in Electric Engineering. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and was later honorably discharged. Jim was the PRCA Top Ten All Around in the 1940-50’s. On June 21, 1957, he married Bettie Ann Belt, who preceded him in death on December 13, 1995. Jim worked as a rancher when he moved to Eufaula. He owned several businesses including, Eufaula Cleaners and Laundry, Chief Vending until 1983, and Gentle Giant Bowl. Jim was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Survivors include: his two sons, Gary Moores and Kathy Nickell; Mark Dobbs and wife, Margaret, all of Eufaula; one sister Carman McCarty and husband, Bill, of Florida; one brother in-law, George Moon, of Richardson, TX; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mettie Dobbs; his wife, Bettie Ann Dobbs; and two sisters, JoAnn Manley and Mildred Moon. A graveside service was held at 10:00a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend Posey Gaines officiating. Pallbearers were Perry Anderson, Lee Henry, Parker Saltsman, Mike Saltsman, Nick McKinney, Robert Lee Simpson, Jack Sellers, and Rodney Powell.
