On Sunday, September 11, 2016, Ruby Jean Freeman, age 78, of Eufaula, went home to be with the Lord. Ruby Jean was born June 28, 1938, to Guy and Ruby (Baker) Phillips, at Mellette, Oklahoma. She grew up in the Eufaula area, attending Oak Grove and Eufaula Schools. She was a graduate of Eufaula High School in 1955. She also graduated from Connors State College receiving her Associates Degree in Bookkeeping. On June 1, 1955, Ruby Jean married Calvin L. Freeman and they were blessed with 44 years together. During their early years of marriage, they traveled, living in the Henryetta area, Arkansas, California, and New Mexico finally coming home to Eufaula, where Ruby Jean began working at the McIntosh County Clerk"s office as a purchasing agent and finished her career there as 1st Deputy 30 years later. Ruby Jean was a member of the VFW Ladies" Auxiliary and also a member of the Red Hat Society. Ruby Jean was a member of the Eufaula Free Will Baptist Church. Ruby Jean enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved her brothers and sisters, traveling and spending time together, and enjoying life. Ruby Jean loved to read, and enjoyed time with her family and friends playing darts. Ruby Jean is survived by her son, Bruce Freeman and wife Paula, of Eufaula, her daughter, Callie Freeman, of Eufaula, her brothers, Dale Phillips, and GB Phillips and wife Shirley, all of Eufaula, her sisters, Shirley Burwell, Lela Wheeler, and Toy Henry, all of Eufaula, her 6 grandchildren, Billy Lee Freeman and wife Kristi, Christopher Freeman and wife Kasey, Ryan Freeman and wife Heather, Denver Freeman, William Freeman and wife Ciera. Ruby Jean also had 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and another on the way. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Family members preceding Ruby Jean in death and greeting her in Heaven are her parents, Guy and Ruby Phillips, her husband, Calvin, her granddaughter, Lena Stout, her sister-in-law, Carrie Phillips, her brothers-in-law, Dan Burwell, and Jimmy Wheeler.
