Annalee Jean Shuey

Annalee Jean Shuey, 93, of Checotah, Oklahoma peacefully passed from this life on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at her home surrounded by family. Jean was born on March 21, 1933 in Oilton, Oklahoma, to Robert Daniel Shuey Sr. and Gladys (Williams) Shuey. During her life she lived in Oilton, Silver City, Rush Springs, Duncan, Mayesville, Quinton and Eufaula, Oklahoma. She graduated high school in 1951 from Duncan High School and then attended Oklahoma State University for one year. While at OSU she worked as an elevator operator and worked in the school cafeteria. She worked for many years with her mother doing ceramics and together they ran several shops. In 1964, the family moved to Eufaula, OK and she and her mother opened the Rainbow's End Trading Post on Old Highway 69. In 1967, she began working at KCES radio station as a disc jockey and radio engineer. She worked at KCES for 27 years. At one time Jean was a member of the Order of the Amaranth and the Eastern Star. Jean was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church from 1969 to present where she was church pianist, taught Sunday School and was church treasurer.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Gladys, her brother Robert Shuey Jr. and his wife Lillie Shuey and her niece Lauresa Durham. Jean is survived by her cats Katie and Callie. She is also survived by her nephew Gary Shuey and wife Karen of Moore, Oklahoma, nephew Robert Shuey III, and wife Lisa of Albertville, AL, niece Gwen Kirk and husband John of Sherman, TX, nephew-in-law John Durham of Wooster, OH, great nieces Dr. Rachel Shuey, Ami Hammond, Lori Coloñ, Diane Littlejohn, Kathy Ulmer, Faith Shuey, Abby Shuey, great nephews Andy Henson and Ben Shuey.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Perry Brake officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hbmfuneralhome.com
