Bonnie Sue Gorby, 78, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, in Tulsa. Bonnie was born on April 23, 1944, in Vivian, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alonzo and Lorene (Brandon) Layman. Sue grew up on her family’s dairy farm and attended Stidham School where she graduated in 1963, she then later in life bought her own land near her family’s farm and started her own. Sue worked as an EMT in Eufaula for many years and then attended Kiamichi Technology Center in 1983 for her Practical Nursing degree. Sue worked for Checotah Manor, Wellington Hills, and Eufaula Manor where she dedicated 40 years caring for her patients. All of her life she raised and cared for all of her family. Sue was the second oldest out of 12 siblings. She dedicated her time to caring for her family and her patients. If you couldn’t find her taking care of someone, you could find her at the casino. She had cattle that she enjoyed looking at while she sat on her front porch, everyday. If you ever wanted honesty, she was the person to go and sometimes you’d get without even asking. She read western books daily, sometimes two or three. She was a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a sister, caretaker, and a friend. She enjoyed many things but she enjoyed nothing more than being a grandmother to Allen and Savanah and great-grandmother to her grand-babies Waylon and Hesston who call her “Mo-Mo”.
She is survived by one daughter, Stacy King (Gorby) and spouse Gary, of Wichita; grandchildren: Allen Gorby and spouse, Kamryn of Eufaula; Savanah Cox and spouse Drew, of Eufaula; great grandchildren: Waylon Cox, and Hesston Gorby, both of Eufaula; brothers: Lonnie Layman and spouse Mary Ann, of Chickasha; Gary "Pot" Layman, of Eufaula; sisters: Connie Oliver, of West Virginia; Martha Desimone and spouse Michael, of Hawaii; Penelope Greco and spouse Marty, of Stigler; Caroline Harrall and spouse Grady, of Chickasha; sister in-laws: Frieda Layman; Glenda Layman, both of Eufaula; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Lorene (Brandon) Layman; brothers: Clonnie, Johnnie, Donnie, and Ronnie; and baby sister, Alesia.
