Doris Ann (Braddock) Sanders , 93, of Tulsa, OK, peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, March 29th, 2026, in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by family. Doris, or “Dolly” to some, was born on March 15th, 1933 , in Grand Junction , Colorado to Alfred Arthur Braddock and Doris Marguerite (Luebbert) Braddock. She was a graduate of Boulder (Colorado ) High School. She enjoyed singing in the choir , participating in high school musicals, latin, among other courses, and decided to study nursing in college. After about a year and a half attending the University of Colorado she met Charles Sanders and decided she’d rather get married and have a family, than pursue a career in nursing.
They met when Charles was in the Navy at a USO dance in Vallejo, California in 1956. They soon married and welcomed 5 children , who were the joy of their lives.
At her core was a love for Jesus, children, music, literature, and a love for animals and plants. She enjoyed digging in the dirt, tending her garden, raising her sunflowers, and wrote a little poetry.
She held many positions in her lifetime, she was not only a wonderful mother, she was a medical transcriptionist, a piano teacher , accompanist for various schools and churches, child care provider, Girl Scout leader, GA leader (Girls In Action) at a couple of Baptist churches she/ the family attended.
Doris lived in Eufaula, OK, for 29 years . She was a faithful member of the Northfork Baptist Church in Eufaula where she assisted in the nursery .
One of the last volunteer positions she held, and was so very proud of, was with the “Grandmothers Program” at Eufaula Elementary School, for 15 years. Not only did she spend countless hours helping the children with their reading or math problems, she also assisted many teachers by making copies and preparing materials for them.
Doris was a voracious reader and shared her love of books not only w/ her own children but w/ her grandchildren by introducing them to the public libraries.
Whether is was making little yarn dolls for the elementary students, walking $5 across town to a high school graduate, taking food to a family in need, or walking across town on Christmas morning to put some toys on a child’s porch Doris was selfless, loving, kind, and compassionate, it didn’t go unnoticed.
In addition to her 5 children , Doris felt that one of her greatest achievements was becoming a grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She attended as many sporting events , plays, music programs, graduations, piano recitals, dance recitals as she was able to and spent a quite a bit of time (and money) at school book fairs!
Doris is survived by her former Husband, Charles Sanders, her daughters Amy (Sanders) Holmgren ( husband, Casey), of Tulsa, OK, Nora
Sanders- Bunyard, son Tom ( wife, Kimberly) Sanders of Overgaard, AZ, daughter-in- law Marcy Sanders of Tallahassee, FL, son- in law Mark Dobbs of Eufaula, OK.
She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, Ryan Holmgren, Hayley (Holmgren) Hall (husband, Taylor) , Blair Bunyard, Matthew Bunyard, Brad Sanders (wife, Corinne), Korey Ann (Sanders) Bure (husband, Codi), Tommy Sanders, Braddock Dobbs (wife, Kailee), Mason Dobbs, and 12 great grandchildren, Silas, Mae and Naomi Hall, Beckham and Finnley Sanders, Walker, Marshall, and Dawson Bure, Macie Bunyard , Ainslee and Braddock “McCrae” Dobbs, and Clara Dobbs, and one more on the way in Fall of 2026.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Doris Braddock, her daughter, Margaret Dobbs, her son, Phil Sanders, and her brothers, Bob, Bill, and Alfred “Al” Braddock.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Doris at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Kelley Memorial Chapel with Tom Sanders officiating.
