Genoa Ann Curtis

Genoa Ann Curtis was born to Basil and Pearl Redding on March 25, 1934 on the family farm near Council Hill, Oklahoma. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Eufaula. Her Lord called and she answered the evening of April 5, 2026. She died in her apartment at Baptist Village, Owasso, Oklahoma.

Genoa's home was Eufaula. She was forever a devoted fan of the Eufaula Ironheads, OU Sooners and OKC Thunder. Her love for sports started at Council Hill where she was an All State basketball player. “GO Yellowjackets”!

Genoa was a career paralegal in Eufaula and retired from Lackey and Wendel Law Firm. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family. She was a daddy’s girl and inherited his happy fun loving personality. Both always had a joke or a funny story to tell, For example, when the family and neighboring farm kids and visiting cousins were working in the fields hoeing weeds and grass from the cotton rows, dad would lead the pack. He would start to tell a made up story. There was always the Haggard who couldn't hear the story well and would skip ahead to get within earshot. The next hoeing there was a fight over who had to chop the weed infested row the Haggard had skipped through.

Her family felt like they were so fortunate she was theirs. She was an excellent cook and loved feeding her family. A family favorite was her coconut cream pie. She was a huge part of their lives and touched them all in so many ways. She was not only a mother and grandmother she was a friend. A great sounding board, who never judged. She will always be remembered as happy, loving and beautiful inside and out. Her memory will live in their hearts forever. She will be deeply missed.

Genoa is survived by her brother, Max Redding; two children, Garland (Billy) Curtis Jr. and his wife Darlena, daughter, Janette Johnson and daughter-in-law Lana Peterson; grandchildren Carrie Rapp, Heather Thompson, Adam Steidley, Blake Johnson, Mindy Contreras, Matthew Goodnight and Jack Goodnight; 14 great grandchildren, several nephews, nieces, cousins and countless friends.

Genoa was preceded in death by her parents Basil and Pearl Redding, her husband, Garland Curtis Sr, son Randy Peterson and daughter Pam Steidley. She is also preceded in death by her her brother Sam Redding and his wife Rheta.
