At only 17 years old, Jamar managed to make a mark on more people than many do in an entire lifetime. From the moment JJ entered into this world, he carried a spark, an energy, a passion and a heart so bright it could light up any room he walked in to. JJ had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for, even in the simplest of moments. JJ was a big teddy bear, and his smile could shift a mood, and his presence alone brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.
Football wasn't just a sport to him it was his heartbeat. It was the place he felt most alive, most himself and most free. On that field, he transformed. JJ was fierce, focused and a force to be reckoned with. He played with determination, strength beyond his years, and with a heart that refused to settle for anything less than giving everything he had, every single time. His teammates respected him not only for his talent but for the way he lifted them up, encouraged them, and took on that big brother role. Coaches admired his work ethic, his drive, and the way he led by example quietly, humbly but powerfully. Everyone loved watching him because when he played, you could feel his passion and see how much he loved the sport.
Off the field, JJ was just as unforgettable. He was funny, playful, hardheaded and full of life. JJ had the kind of personality that stuck with you long after he left the room. JJ never met a stranger and was dang sure not going to turn down anything that involved eating. JJ made people laugh and had his fair share of making them mad also, but no matter what, you couldn't stay mad at him for long. JJ was always cracking jokes, dancing or saying something off all that made you stare at him awkwardly. His personality just had a way of lifting spirits. JJ had a heart big enough to wrap around anyone lucky enough to know him.
Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made will live on in every life he touched. JJ's story doesn't end with his passing. It continues in the memories he created the love he gave, the lessons he taught us about strength, passion and living boldly. It continues every time someone speaks his name, carries his spirit forward, or remembers the way he made them feel. To know JJ was to love him. And to love him was one of the greatest gifts we were ever given. Forever 17, forever #60. Long live Jarmar Williams a.k.a. big baby.
