Jerlene Batson

Jerlene Batson, 97 years old, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Eufaula Manor Nursing Home. Jerlene was born on November 14, 1928, in Fame, Oklahoma, the daughter of Willie and Rosie Lee (Scott) Batson. She graduated from Booker T. Washington School in Eufaula in 1946. Jerlene worked as a nurse at the Friendly Manor/Eufaula Manor Nursing Home for over 40 years. She loved to read, watch television and knit. She was a member of the Dickerson Chapel AME Church where she loved to volunteer. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Paul Ray Dixon and Victor Echols both of Eufaula; daughters Janice McGowan of Los Angeles, California and Beverly Carlis of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jerlene is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Rosie Batson, siblings Roberta Mathis, Charles Batson, Willie Batson, Jr., Alex Batson, and Gene Batson and her sons Lawrence Dixon, Timothy Dixon and Steve Dixon.
