Joyce Elaine Hodge

Joyce Elaine Hodge, 78, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Joyce was born on December 24, 1946, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Beta Karness and Lorene (Morgan) Philpot. She graduated high school and received her associates degree.

Joyce dedicated the last of her career to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, but to her, it was never just a 'job.' It was a community. She poured many years into her work, and in return, she gained a second family.

Her dedication extended beyond her daily duties through her involvement with the Fraternal Order of Police Associates (FOPA). She believed deeply in supporting those who serve, and she cherished the camaraderie and purpose she found there. She loved the people she worked with, and she was so proud to be part of the Sheriff’s Office family.

If you knew Joyce, you knew that her loyalty ran deep especially when it came to the Kansas City Chiefs. On Sundays, she cheered enthusiastic for the Chiefs. She absolutely loved watching them play, and truth be told, she might have had a little crush on Travis Kelce.

But as much as she loved the Chiefs, her favorite athletes weren't in the NFL, they were her grandchildren. She was their number one fan. Rain or shine, near or far, she simply did not miss a game.

That love extended to her nieces and nephews, too. She was so incredibly proud of them. Nothing brought her more joy than hearing about their adventures and seeing the amazing adults they grew into.

She held an abiding respect and love for her brothers. She valued the men they became and the shared memories.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Cheryl Denise Green; her grandchildren Brandon Rogers, Keaton Donathan and Katelyn Donathan; and her brothers Ron Philpot and Rick Philpot. She is preceded in death by her parents, Betah and Lorene Philpot; a brother Ed Philpot, a son, Brian Rogers and a grandson, Colin Rogers.
