Mary Judith “Judy” Fitzer (Née McVeigh) passed away on November 12, 2020. Born on September 26, 1937 in McAlester, Oklahoma to John Arthur and Ruby McVeigh. Judy had one brother Robert “Bob”, who preceded her in death. Judy graduated from Calera High School in 1955. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southeastern State University in Business Education in 1958 and went on to earn a Master’s in Education from Southeastern State University on August 4, 1966. Judy applied her degree, touching many lives as she taught life lessons along with her business classes. Judy taught at Gallup McKinley High School, University of New Mexico, Classen High School, Rose State College, finishing her teaching career after teaching over two decades at Piedmont High School receiving Teacher of the Year Award in 1988 and being recognized as one of the top Mock Trial Coordinators. Judy loved her students as they were her own children and was loved by so many in return. Judy is preceded in death by her father, John Arthur McVeigh, mother, Ruby McVeigh, brother, Bob McVeigh and ex-husband Paul Fitzer. She is survived by her daughter, Loxi Fitzer-James and her grandsons, Jonathon James and Alec James of Edmond, OK; her son, Wes Fitzer and wife Paula and their two children, Sydney Fitzer and Jacob Fitzer of Eufaula, OK.
