Leon Okley French

Leon O. French,98, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, peacefully passed from this life on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by family. Leon was born on November 11, 1927, in Cushing, Oklahoma, the son of Luer Grant and Nora Valley (Marshall) French. When he was in 9th grade his daddy pulled him out of school to work on the farm to help feed the other children. He stayed on the farm to help his daddy until he was 21. A friend came back from Oregon telling Leon of all the work to be had and money to be made there. Leon went to his daddy and told him it was time for the next boy to take over and for him to start his life. He went to Oregon where he met MaryAnn Payne and married her on September 26, 1950. They shared seventy-five years together. Leon worked hard all his life on the farm, in the saw mills of Oregon and in commercial construction.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Ann, son Dennis Grant French and wife Cindy and their three children Ryan, Erika, Faith and husband Paul Daniel Meadows, and the grandson of his deceased daughter (Lori), Garrett Lee Chambers. Six great grandchildren Dakota, Elara, Cherokee, Asher, River and Tracker. Four siblings Dixie, Mavis, Leland and Arthur, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lori Lynn French Chambers, four brothers and four sisters.
