Lucille Margaret Downing

Lucille Margaret Downing, 88, of Stigler, Oklahoma, peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Born on June 15, 1937, in Atwood, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of James J. and Margaret May (Fisher) Blystone.

From an early age, Lucille embraced the joy of music, participating in the drum line and bugle corps during junior high school and later becoming a majorette for Vandergrift High School. Her Christian upbringing was a significant part of her life, and she joined the synagogue when she married her first husband, Harold, with whom she shared her life and raised her children.

An advocate for education, Lucille pursued further studies at business night school in New Kensington, PA, leading to a fulfilling career as an accounting secretary for several years. Later in life, she found happiness in her marriage to Everett Phillip Downing, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years. Together, they enjoyed adventures traveling the world in their motor home, creating endless memories.

In 2001, Lucille relocated to Eufaula, where she continued to nurture her love for animals and nature. Known for her kind heart, she devoted herself to the welfare of cats and dogs in Piney Creek, often rescuing them and taking them to the shelter in McAlester. Lucille also took great pleasure in tending to her plants, continually beautifying her yard with vibrant flowers.

Lucille is survived by her three children, Brian Breman of Tulsa, OK, Ina Michelle Russotto of IL, and David Mark Breman of OK, along with her beloved cat, Mason.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Blystone, her husband Phillip, a sister, Dorothy Arnold, and a brother, Earl Blystone.

Lucille's legacy of love, compassion, and the joy of life will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
