Marshall Montgomery,84, of Eufaula, Oklahoma peacefully passed from this life with family by his side on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Marshall was born on November 2, 1941 in Happy Hollow, Oklahoma, the son of William Thomas and Etta Jewell (Calvert) Montgomery. He graduated from Stidham High School in 1960.
Marshall worked for the Weddern Brothers Ranch in Lemoore, California, for a brief time. He helped irrigate and grow cotton, wheat and barley.
Upon returning to Oklahoma, he worked at the Texaco Station on the south end of Eufaula for many years while living with his brother LaVerne and his family.
In 1970, Marshall married Mary Jo Starkey, and they made their home in Stidham. Although they never had any children, Marshall loved them dearly. The love for children lead him to Stidham School where he served as janitor and bus driver. He also drove the Eufaula school bus and was a night janitor for a period of time. Marshall gave up the janitorial work and was assigned all the mowing for the Eufaula Public Schools. Marshall dedicated over 50 years to the community as a bus driver.
As a side hustle, Marshall read electric meters for East Central Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, however, his main love was ranching, cattle and horses.
For the past 10 years, Marshall lived with his brother LaVerne. They became inseparable. LaVerne took him to doctor appointments and dialysis at 4 in the morning and cancer treatments, sometimes 10 or more appointments in one week. They made the most of it by visiting and eating out every chance they got.
Marshall is survived by his brother LaVerne Montgomery of Eufaula; one sister-in-law Janetta Montgomery, five nieces Linda Silk of Eufaula, Marlene Montgomery of Stillwater, Carol Lindley of Eufaula, Tisha Montgomery of Oklahoma City, and Susan Offalter of Corpus Christi, Texas, six nephews Vernon Montgomery of Eufaula, Donnie Montgomery of Yukon, Randy Montgomery of Yukon, Rick Montgomery of Lemoore, California and Glenn Breedlove of Eufaula.
Marshall is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Etta Montgomery, three brothers Richard Montgomery, Buddy Montgomery, and infant brother Francis Montgomery, one sister Norma Jean Breedlove and a half sister, Nadine Harrelson.
