Mavis Marlene Ponnequin

Mavis Marlene Ponnequin, 65, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed from this life on Wednesday, January 14, 2025 at her home in Canadian Shores, Oklahoma. Mavis was born on February 3, 1961, in Bakersfield, California, the daughter of Henry Leroy and Kathryn Louise (Edington) Scott. She graduated from Wilburton High School in 1979. On August 21, 2009 Mavis married Steve Ponnequin in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She worked as a secretary in the oilfield business.

Mavis is survived by her husband Steve of the home; mother, Kathryn Scott; daughters Jeniffer Hammond and husband Craig and Amber Jones and husband Dalton; son Steven Ranjim Ponnequin and wife Shawna; brothers Randy Scott and wife Helen and Curtis Scott and wife Jana. Mavis is also survived by eight grandchildren Blake Henry Watkins, Kayden Lee Hammond, Harley Jayde Hammond, Raven Marlene Hammond, Tyler Jones, Dana Jones and Jaxson Airheart-Jones, Caden Hines and two great-grandchildren; Carson Stephens and Caden Hines Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mavis is preceded in death by her father Leroy Scott.
