Paul Aden Maloy

Paul Maloy,89, of Eufaula, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at his home in Eufaula. Paul was born on February 5, 1937, in Allen, Oklahoma, the son of Vernon D. and Louella Lucille (Dehart) Maloy. Paul enlisted in the United States Army serving as a baker and a mechanic. On August 27, 1974, Paul married Mattie Howry in Oklahoma City. They were happily married for fifty-one years. Paul was a truck driver for Yellow Freight for twenty-five years. Paul, longtime Oklahoma musician, songwriter, Army veteran, and co-founder of the Plumb Theatre in Longtown, passed away after a life devoted to music, family, and community. His love of music began at 15 when he found a broken guitar, repaired it, and taught himself to play, a passion that carried him through his service in Korea—where he performed in military clubs—followed by years playing country music in Oklahoma City and a stint in Nevada. A career highlight came in 1987 when George Strait recorded “Someone’s Walkin’ Around Upstairs,” co-written with his son Paul Jr. (performing as David Anthony), appearing on the platinum album Ocean Front Property. Paul and his wife, Mattie, purchased a building in Longtown that became the Plumb Theatre, a 110-seat country and gospel music venue that grew into a beloved community gathering place featuring affordable shows, gospel on Fridays, and country on Saturdays. Paul and Mattie built the theatre together—often performing side by side after Mattie learned bass—and welcomed all who came, playing for any size crowd with gratitude and joy. Though he wrote many songs and submitted dozens more to George Strait, Paul remained humble and thankful for the life music gave him. His legacy endures in the songs he wrote, the stage he built, and the community he nurtured through a lifetime of hard work, humor, and love.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mattie, of the home; son David Maloy; daughter Teresea Esquivias; 11 grandchildren: Chris Williams, Niki Maloy, Rachelle Bryant, Ralph Esquivias Jr., Chad Maloy, Jon David Maloy, LaTasha Royal, Priscilla Esquivias-Smith, Bethany Coppedge, Adena Sheaffer, Josh Messmer; 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Louella Maloy; 2 brothers Ed and Vernon, sister Pearl Etta, son Gary Maloy and daughter Paula Maloy.
