Raymond Lee Roy Stone, 90, of Eufaula, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021, in McAlester. Raymond was born on February 18, 1930, in Clayton, New Mexico, the son of Raymond and Iva Dell Stone. Lee Roy moved to Quamada Valley, Texas as a small child, then to a small farm in Dumont, Texas at the age of 12. Later the family moved to a large farm near Guthrie, Texas. Raymond went to high school in Paducah, Texas where he played football for the Paducah Dragons. They made the All State District Championship in 1948. In August of 1949, Lee Roy enlisted in the Marine Corp. His boot camp was in San Diego, California. After boot camp, Lee Roy was sent to Guam for 13 months. He came back to California for 5 months and from there was sent to Korea on August 3, 1950. Lee Roy participated in the Wonsan, Hungnon and Chasin Campaign in October and November of 1950, where he suffered frozen hands and feet and pneumonia. He was flown to Japan for months to recuperate. He made Sergeant on May 21, 1951. Lee Roy served as Drill Sergeant in January 12, 1952. He was honorably discharged on August 1, 1952. On June 8, 1957, Lee Roy married Marlene Woodard in Paducah, Texas. They moved to California on February 2, 1962. To this union two children were born, Roger Glen on January 25, 1963 and Linda Ann on July 19, 1965. After moving to California, Lee Roy worked at the California Correctional Institutes as Program Supervisor II for many years. Lee Roy and Marlene moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma on April 16, 1977. Lee Roy worked for the Eufaula School Systems and retired from there after many years due to poor health. Marlene retired as owner and operator of the Clip Joint after 24 years due to Raymond's health. After moving to Eufaula they bought land, sired and raised Registered Quarter Horses. Horses were the joy of Lee Roy's life. Lee Roy was a member of the Assembly of God Church since 1991. Lee Roy served as Trustee for many years. Survivors include: his wife, Marlene, of the home; his son, Roger Glen Stone of Eufaula; his daughter, Linda Ann Martin and husband Phillip of Eufaula; his grandchildren Heather Martin and Andrew Martin; three great grandchildren, Blake Burnham, Zachary Albert and Hannah Albert; and a sister, Shirley Kinney. He is preceded in death by his parents.
