Robert Howard Sunday, aged 71, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 16, 1955, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Bob was the son of Quinton Sunday and Beth (Baker) Sunday. His childhood was marked by time spent overseas in Japan and Germany due to his father's service as a United States Army Officer.
Bob graduated from Eufaula High School in 1973 and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, where he was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting in 1978. On September 2, 1995, Bob married Sonya in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and they shared a joyful marriage of thirty years. He founded his own CPA firm in his hometown of Eufaula and retired in April 2016.
Known for his warm nature, Bob truly embodied the saying "never met a stranger," always ready to share a story, a kind smile, or a hearty joke. He was an active member of the Eufaula Masonic Lodge No. 1 and practiced the Methodist faith.
Bob is lovingly survived by his wife Sonya; his son Brandon Thompson of Newcastle, Oklahoma; three daughters, Brooke Sunday-Brun of Alaska, Lacy Kerr of Kansas, and Schelli Nordskog of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Damian, Ethan, Elita, Gage, Baby Lakin, and Remi; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kent, Langley, and Violet; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Quinton and Beth Sunday, and his brother Bill Sunday.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Eufaula, with Pastor John Breon officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula, Oklahoma.
Bob’s life leaves a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness and community will be fondly remembered.
