Ronnie Lee Nixon, 64, of Okemah, Oklahoma passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Hilcrest South Hospital of Tulsa. Ronnie was born on December 4, 1959, in Mangum, Oklahoma, the son of Chester Lee and Noama Carol (Alcorn) Nixon. Ronnie graduated from Deer Creek High School in Edmond, OK. Ronnie was an athlete in high school. Early in life, Ronnie used to work alongside of his dad and brother with his dad’s business. He expressed very fond memories of the family get togethers where the aunts, uncles, and cousins would play cards and play music on the front porch. Ronnie was a veteran of the US Army. He was an avid bowler and was once on the ABC Wild World of Sports for a bowling championship. He has a “300” ring from his perfect game. Ronnie went on to become an electrician and obtained his Electrical Contractor’s license. He married Susan Leiding in 2005. They were divorced 14 years later. He lived in the Edmond area until 2023.
Ronnie had great love and joy in his life for his young son, Cody. He was very proud of his 2 stepchildren and the young adults they have become, along with hearing about their spouses and children.
Ronnie is survived by his son, Cody Nixon of Moore; stepchildren, Brandon Wackerly, Jr and wife Haley of Yukon, Shelby Christian and husband Peyton of Yukon; sister Tammy Nixon of Okemah; brothers Danny Nixon and wife Noel of Luther; Randy Nixon and wife Kathy of Norman; two grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Noama Nixon, and aunts and uncles.
The family will have a graveside service led by Pastor Tobin Jackson at Moore Cemetery in Eufaula, OK, Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2 pm. Funeral arrangements were made by Hunn, Black, & Merritt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, condolences can be made on behalf of Cody Nixon of Moore at BancFirst.
