Terry Robert Peterson, 77, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. Born on August 5, 1948, in Portland, Oregon, Terry lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to his family.
Shortly after high school, Terry married Sandra Elouise Hatton on December 23, 1966. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Peterson; his sons, BC, his wife Angie; and Jarrod; his cherished grandchildren, Colin, his wife Rachel; London, Lily, her husband Trent; Noah, Ford, and May; and his great-grandchildren, Raylan, Kalith, Dean, and Leilani. He is also survived by his siblings and their families: sister Sandy Hardy (daughters Shawn and Shannon); sister Deb and husband Scott Vanwagoner (sons Matthew and Bronson); sister Beverly Obrian and husband Tom (children Michelle and Aaron); brother Don Bursch and wife Lisa (children Nina and Nelson); and brother Dean Bursch and wife Susan (children Jennifer and Kimberly). He was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Bill Bursch.
A man of deep Christian faith, Terry embodied the values of love and devotion to God. He was a true family patriarch whose unconditional love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His sense of humor was legendary—his dad jokes brought smiles to countless faces, and he carried himself with a manliness that reflected strength and warmth in equal measure.
Terry was an entrepreneur who built several successful businesses over the years. In 1991, he started R.T. Peterson Trucking, eventually expanding to a fleet of 25 trucks traveling across the continental United States. In 2013, he and Sandy moved to Eufaula, and in 2015, he started Terry's Trucking LLC. Through his years of hauling gravel, he made many good friends along the way.
His grandchildren were one of his greatest joys, and spending time playing on the boat was another. Terry's legacy is one of unwavering love, laughter, and faith—a life well-lived as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
